First quarter QIAA Committee Meeting
16 groups represented


Chairperson - Peter C. opens with the 2nd. Tradition
  • No secretary notes from last meeting - secretary absent
 
Manny hands out his report-
    1. SENY 49 Convention coming up 4/1-4/3
    2. Bill W. Dinner
    3. Toronto convention 7/30-8/3 – be careful of the laws in Canada
 
Peter reads memo from GSO-
    1. 51 translations of Big Book now in print; latest translation is Zulu
    2. 28,000 people registered for convention, 70 countries repped, 600 speakers
 
Peter hands out Treasurers report, Jan-Feb 05-
    1. first 3 months of year are always the hardest financially,
        printing of books and insurance payment
    2. $17,153 prudent reserve
    3. Expenses are 24K per year
 
Question from floor:
    "Where are the Shar-a-thon donations in the budget?" Peter answers,
    "Should be in December budget with a little in January."
     Treasurers report accepted
 
Manny hands out report on new proposed Steering Committee position
    1. Vote on position, 14-1 to accept with 1 abstention
    2. Position accepted
    3. Nominations for new position to be held at the next delegates meeting
 
Institutions Report
    1. Dick not present, John gives Institutions report for Dick
    2. Dick is stepping down in November, sooner if he gets a replacement
    3. Position requires several hours during the day
    4. Institutions report accepted
 
Officer Manager's report
    1. explains phone coordinator position for day phones
    2. Peter gives night phone coordinator's report; going smoothly
    3. Queens has only 24/7/365 hotline phone operation
    4. Report accepted
 
Meeting Book report
    1. John: Hank stepping down in November
    2. Meeting book updates should be in by 3/15/05
    3. Books will be out in mid-April
    4. Report accepted
    5. John to be voted on in June
 
Newsletter Report - Gene C.

    4. Votes is 13-0 with 2 abstentions

Old business
    1. No location yet for Queens Gratitude Day; must be able to hold 150 people
    2. Exchange/Delegates/Gratitude all on same day in June
    3. Jerry O. - Exchange meeting should be centrally located
    4. Our Savior Lutheran School is a good location
    5. We should keep Exchange Meeting separate from Gratitude Day
        (a)Vote - 10-5 to separate Gratitude Day and Exchange/Delegates Meeting
        (b)Vote on a central location for Gratitude Day;
             10-1 in favor with 4 abstentions
    6. Minority opinion to move Gratitude Day around instead of having a central
        location.  "Would anyone change their vote because of minority opinion?"
        New votes is 10-2 in favor of central location with 3 abstentions.
    7. If no suitable central location is found, it is up to Steering Committee
        to decide where to hold it. Vote is 14-0 with no abstentions.
    8. Should non-AA phone numbers be included in the Queens meeting book?
        (a) NYC and Nassau do not include non-AA numbers
        (b) It defeats the singleness of purpose
        (c) We cooperate but do not affiliate
        (d) No vote; we don't do it.
    9. On financing QIAA - one group puts a separate basket for QIAA donations
        and doesn't take any from the regular basket
    10. Will there be copies of the by-laws amendments at the next delegates
          meeting? Peter says yes.
    11. Will there be an agenda at the next delegates meeting?  Peter says he wasn't
          able to provide it;  Manny started providing agenda.
    12. Jerry O; Can this meeting be shorter. Peter says yes. It's usually one hour
