Two things not permitted on this trip are selfishness and self-centeredness.

Why? As the Big Book explains it:

|
"Selfishness - self-centeredness! That, we think, is the root of our troubles."(2)
|
So much so that the terms "selfish" and "selfishness" are used 5 times
just in Chapter 5 alone, the word "self" - 29 times.(3)
|
An easy way to deal with the problems of "self"- is to get out of one's self,
and to get into service to others.
|
Throughout this, your Intergroup's Web site, you will find e-mail links and the 'phone number (718-520-5021 or 5024) so you may let us know how you wish to serve.
Examples of things that need doing are:

|
Telephone volunteers, to answer the Hot Line or coordinate other volunteers.
|
|
Volunteers to staff the office on a regular basis (clerical, Meeting Books, 'phones etc).
|
|
"12 Step" responders.
|
|
Institutions - to bring a Meeting in or to speak.
|
Serve on Committees - Sharathon, Institutions, Web,
or to help out at the Exchange and Intergroup Representatives Meetings.
|
Would you would like to get an idea of how much more valuable,
you could be to the Fellowship (even more so then you are now)?
|
If so, why not stop by the Steering Committee / Business Meeting at the office.
You should find them to be a pleasent "team".
They meet on the First Tuesday of every Month at 7:30 P.M.
